Best starter settings for freeze drying hash

Best starter settings for freeze drying hash

The simplest blog post on freeze dryer recipes for hash that you're ever going to read.

We're calling it the Rule of Twos, and it's a total oversimplification, but it’s a great start.

Here's how it goes:

  • -20° freeze

  • 2 hour extra freeze time

  • 20° shelf temp

  • 2-20 hours of extra dry time

If you can remember the number 2, you have a solid foundation for developing your own recipes for different strains and batch sizes.

Different batch sizes like different settings.

You may find that ultra-low shelf temps work for you, or that it's not feasible given your batch size.

You may also find that you achieve really good results with shelf temps in the 20-30° range, and just fine-tune your dry time to achieve the desired level of final moisture content.

So, we’re calling it the Rule of Twos. Every setting starts with a 2. Just a little something we came up with to make remembering easier after getting asked by hundreds of people what the best settings for hash are.

There are no “best” settings for hash – it all depends on what you’re trying to make and what kind of resin you’re starting with.

Hit us up if you have any questions on dialing in your recipes for different types of resin or batch sizes. We're always happy to answer about how you can fine-tune it.
